Astronaut and Purdue alumnus David Wolf will speak at the event, which will include a program and reception.
On June 29, the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC) is convening a virtual Cancer Moonshot Summit on Twitter.
WASHINGTON-Vice President Joe Biden announced a series of partnerships involving government, industry and academia that are aimed at bolstering the White House’s proposed $1 billion “cancer moonshot” to speed up the national fight against the disease. “Purdue is positioned to do that”, said Ratliff.
Kix and Gadus will discuss their personal battles with cancer and how research saved their lives.
Head and neck cancers also encompass entities with strong geographic links and in our field, as I believe across cancer research, global cooperation will be invaluable in accelerating this work.
Mark McClellan, a former FDA commissioner who is director of the new Robert J. Margolis Center for Health Policy at Duke University, said consolidating cancer reviews is a good step but doesn’t necessarily address the FDA’s overarching challenge – a lack of money.
Biden will highlight new collaborations and investments fostered through the Cancer Moonshot initiative. “Most of us will be impacted by cancer in our lifetimes, whether we are diagnosed or someone we love is”. Additionally, the nation’s third-largest cancer hospital, The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, looks to Avec to enable data capture, sharing and matching-while maintaining patient privacy-in a Cancer Research Information Exchange spanning multiple cancer centers nationwide.
As it brings on new members, OPeN plans to focus more on community health systems beyond the current membership, hoping to reach to patients in other geographic regions of the U.S.
The event will be live streamed and can be viewed at http://www.kaltura.com/tiny/k8e95.

We invite all stakeholders to participate in the SITC Moonshot Summit by posting comments on Twitter using #SITCSummit, #CancerMoonshot and mention @sitcancer.

“Imagine if we all worked together. shared the data behind breakthroughs so that the field as a whole can move forward faster and avoid unnecessary redundancy”, said the vice president before participants of an American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) meeting early this month. Part of the National Cancer Institute, GDC features several clinical and genomic data collected from some 12,000 cancer patients, as well as detailed analyses of the molecular makeup of various cancer forms. Scientists now see cancer as a highly complicated collection of hundreds of different diseases of genes and gene mutations.
