“I’d be lying if I said that I knew I was there”, he told Colbert on “The Late Show”.
Then Cuomo gave Biden the ultimate compliment for a man so obsessed with his state that he’s spent only a handful of days outside its borders since he was sworn in five years ago: Biden, he said, is “a man who could be a New Yorker”.
But Biden said he is still in the process of deciding whether to enter the Democratic presidential field.
“One minute he’s talking about how ridiculously he thinks [Hillary] Clinton’s handling her campaign, the next his voice is cracking, his eyes drifting off as he thinks about the death of his son,” Politico reports.
Decades ago, at the start of his political career, Biden lost his wife and infant daughter in a auto crash that also injured Beau and his other son, Hunter.
Quipped the gaffe-prone Biden, “by the way, they do this to me at the White House all the time”. However forward of the 2008 race, she pushed him to launch a marketing campaign.
When Colbert asked him how the Roman Catholic faith they also share had helped him respond to the loss, Biden said “it’s so embarrassing” to be held up as some example when so many people go through the same challenges with far less support, “so I feel self-conscious”.
“I think you should run for president again and I’ll be your vice president”, the incumbent vice president told the new host. ‘I mean, she’s a woman, and I’m not s’posedta say bad things, but really, folks, come on.
An English professor at Northern Virginia Group School, Dr. Biden has elevated points near her personally on the White Home, together with increasing entry to group schools and advocating for army households, a subject of serious significance to her given Beau’s service within the Delaware Military Nationwide Guard.
Biden, who has run for president twice, has been taking a closer-than-expected look at a 2016 presidential bid against front-runner Hillary Clinton, whose poll numbers have slumped under the weight of controversy over the private email server she used as secretary of state.
“Jill has an expression, and I imply this sincerely. She says, any nation that out-educates us will out-compete us”, the vice president has said on multiple occasions.
The topic is education, but the subject remains the 2016 presidential campaign.
In the meantime, the will-he-or-won’t-he parlor game is swirling around the political world and Biden, whose routine trips to conduct vice presidential business have taken on the tinge of campaign stops.
