Biden to never run for political office again

During his interview with 60 Minutes, Vice President Joe Biden was asked to elaborate on comments he made during his recent speech that a few have taken to be a subtle jab at Hillary Clinton’s recent ding on Republicans.

Well, first thing I’d like to do, and you’re being very polite the way you’re asking me the question because a few people have written that, you know, Beau on his death bed said, “Dad, you’ve got to run”, and, there was this sort of Hollywood moment that, you know, nothing like that ever, ever happened.

While Biden’s remarks on “60 Minutes” have been interpreted as a reference to Dowd’s column, he may also have been referring to subsequent reports or cable news commentary that framed his reported exchange with Beau in different terms.

His wife, Jill, who was present for part of the interview, said she was “disappointed” her husband decided not to run.

“I’ve said from the beginning that I don’t know whether our ability to deal with the loss of Beau would reach a point where we could do that before time ran out”. But I really, I really don’t think it’s healthy and I hope he reconsiders this sort of attack on all immigrants.

“I will make no bones about that”, he said.

Before officially dropping out of the race, Biden had failed to surpass either former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton or Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in any publicly released poll for the Democratic nomination, mustering a final aggregate average of just 17%, according to RealClearPolitics. Clinton had made a statement to that effect during the Democratic presidential debate earlier this month. And I don’t take it as, that’s her view. “And you know I’ve seen his, in the 40 years of time we have been together, I’ve seen, you know, the strength of his character, his optimism, his hope”. “She’s lying between my legs with her head on my chest and turns around and puts her arms around me and starts sobbing and says, ‘Pop, I see Daddy all the time”.

At the White House event, Biden lamented partisan bickering in Washington politics and said: “I don’t think we should look at Republicans as our enemies”.

“I think we can make a few real progress – particularly with Paul Ryan, who’s a good guy – on working toward an accomodation on the budget and on keeping government open”.
