Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby Still Steadfast Against Expansion

Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby doesn’t believe his league is at any disadvantage with 10 teams, and says there isn’t any real push for expansion.

Coaches contacted by Bruce Feldmand of FOX Sports believe that most programs have already voluntarily limited the number of full-contact practices during the season, so the change likely won’t have a great deal of impact on the Longhorns or any other conference schools. “We have to win big games when we have them before us, and we have to demonstrate by competition in the postseason that our conference has led us to be highly competitive at the end of the season”.

The policy of two contact days per week, a measure aimed at player safety, will include game days and is one fewer than the current national limit, Bowlsby said. In just three practices may contact exceed half of practice. “Some of our guys don’t even hit two days a week”.

“It’s easy for us”, TCU coach Gary Patterson said.

The Big 12 on Monday announced that it will limit in-season contact to twice a week – including game day – beginning this fall. It’s going to be we play on the road six tough road games.

The Big 12, last season, was criticized for not having a conference championship game despite the fact that it’s the only major conference in which every team plays every other team. “But as a Red Raider, obviously that was a long eight months to sit around on that record, so we’re anxious to get back out there and show what we can do”. Patterson knows the right mindset is especially important for quarterback Trevone Boykin and his high-scoring offense as they enter their second year of running the Air Raid.

“The way the model is right now is something that I’ve supported and something that we’ve done at West Virginia since I got there”, Holgorsen said.

The first conversations about college football are always a welcome thing, even if it’s the sterile, tiresome conversations such as Big 12 Media Days.

Texas Tech football coach Kliff Kingsbury doesn’t need someone to throw touchdowns.

The Frogs finished sixth in the final CFP rankings and hammered No. 9 Mississippi 42-3 in the Peach Bowl.

Thanks in part to an intense overload on Twitter from Cincinnati fans, I’m a little more bullish on the Bearcats in the Big 12. In 2013, TCU was 4-8.

“A year ago, you had to prove people wrong”. Three of those quarterbacks competed for the job in spring drills following the departure of two-year starter Jake Waters.

Another problem with this list is, it doesn’t have Houston on it. If there is going to be a no-brainer in Big 12 expansion, it is the Cougars. “My expectations for myself have not changed”.

Each year, Patterson says, outsiders lay out reasons why TCU will struggle. He threw for 3,901 yards and 33 touchdowns to set school records in both categories and was named the league’s top offensive player.

“I really like the attitude of our football team”, Patterson said.

Said Kansas State coach Bill Snyder: “It will not affect us because the rule defined as it is in place right now – and we’ve had discussions of it in our conference meetings – is identical to what our needs are”.

Snyder said he wants expansion because it would be good for Kansas State.
