Big 12 Football: Can Bill Snyder find more QB magic?

BAYLOR: The Bears are more than six-touchdown favorites Saturday at Kansas before playing three of their next four games at home, where their 18-game winning streak is the longest among FBS teams. The Cyclones won their Big 12 opener for the first time since 2012. The Sooners are 12th in the nation in total offense (521.8 yards per game) and tied for 10th in scoring (42.0 points), and are four touchdown passes shy of their total of 17 from a year ago. The Longhorns trailed 30-0 by the second quarter and they didn’t get on the scoreboard until a throw-away touchdown in the fourth quarter. The Horned Frogs finally get an open date after K-State and then a trip to Iowa State.

After a few struggles ahead of them in the rankings last week, the TCU Horned Frogs moved up to the No. 2 spot in the country and they are starting to look like a legitimate title contender after so much uncertainty following a below average defensive performance in a slim win over Texas Tech the week before.

Last season at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth in a blackout game, Boykin had one of his most incredible highlight moments when he flipped into the end zone for a touchdown. Fourteen players on defense have made their first career starts this season.

COUNT THEM OUT: Texas Tech lost its first two Big 12 games, to TCU and Baylor.

Joe Hubener is expected to be back under center on Saturday after briefly getting knocked out of last week’s loss at Oklahoma State.

Records: Oklahoma State 5-0, 2-0; West Virginia 3-1, 0-1. Sophomore quarterback Mason Rudolph is averaging 334 yards passing per game but the Oklahoma State running game has not been as productive as coach Mike Gundy would like. The defense must overcome the loss of senior safety Karl Joseph, who suffered an ACL injury in practice this week.

Coverage of this game will air on FOX beginning at 7:30 pm ET from Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

Scouting TCU: The second-ranked Frogs are led by quarterback Trevone Boykin who has thrown for 19 touchdowns and is averaging 364 yards passing per game. TCU has scored at least 50 points in the past four games, the last 50-7 over woeful Texas last weekend. Horned Frogs K Jaden Oberkrom needs two FGs to pass Nick Browne (65) for most in school history…. Klein may have to step up into a bigger role for the Wildcats if injuries to two of their top receivers, Kody Cook and Dominique Heath, keep them from contributing.

Kansas State might be pretty good at halting big plays and limiting the ground game, but they’ve had a few really hard times containing mobile quarterbacks. The Wildcats have not defeated a top-five opponent at home since beating No. 4 Texas in 2006.
