Shah, who parted ways with moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference previous year and formed a separate unit, was yesterday placed under house arrest and not allowed to go for Friday prayers.

Shabbir Shah arrived in the national capital for a meeting with Pakistani National Security Advisor Sartaz Ajiz ahead of India-Pakistan NSA-level talks.
However, sources said that there were conflicting reports about Shah being shifted to an undisclosed location as it was also being claimed that the separatist leader was under preventive custody and was detained at the Delhi airport itself. Kashmiri insurgents have been fighting since 1989 for Kashmir’s independence or merger with Pakistan. “This clearly shows that India is not serious at all about talks”.

India almost immediately responded with another statement issued as the response to a question to the spokesperson where it said that it had expected nothing better from Pakistan.
