Biles wins women’s all around gold

The first one was for the team.

Simone Biles is getting serious again. Perhaps by beginning the conversation with talk about the best in history. Given that she’s the reigning world champ on floor and beam and upgraded vault after winning bronze at last year’s worlds, she could leave Rio with more gold than some royal families. Compatriot Rebecca Andrade, cheered on by a roaring crowd in the Olympic Arena, came in eleventh. “She’s definitely the best female gymnast who has ever been”. Gymnasts tend to only have one Olympic window for success.

The path to that redemption has been clear since Raisman arrived in Brazil, with only Biles posting better scores in the qualifying rounds Sunday and team final Tuesday. Starting in Tokyo in four years, teams will only have four members when the games return.

“No one goes in thinking they can beat Simone”. Russia’s Aliya Mustafina took the bronze. “She’s so explosive. She’s super excited in all her routines and super confident, and I think it shows in her performance”. U.S. sensation Simone Biles confirmed her status as the best gymnast in the world as she added the Olympic women’s all-around to her team title for a second gold title in Rio yesterday. At the U.S. Olympic team trials in July, she finished third in the all-around, balance beam and vault programs and second in the floor exercise.

It gets a little trickier after that, if only because of unfortunate timing.

There was huge anticipation in advance of the men’s 200-meter individual medley, where Phelps, 31, and Lochte, 32, have been dueling it out at the Olympics and world championships since 2003.

On Thursday, Biles completed a feat that no woman has pulled off for 20 years – winning back-to-back world and Olympic all-around titles.

The way Biles is handling this Olympic gymnastic competition so far, anything seems possible.

If she leaves it for others to decide, Biles wins in a landslide. Biles has a chance to win five of them before she leaves Rio. Biles is a three-time world champion and four-time United States all-around champion and has performed exceptionally well in Rio thus far. “Those are the culminations of our career”.

Biles opened up on the vault with her two and a half twisting Amanar.

We can’t say we’re surprised that Simone Biles took home the gold after the women’s gymnastics all-around on August 11, but she sure was!

Since making her debut at the 2013 world championships, the 19-year-old Biles has become an unstoppable force. “I just do my gymnastics”, she said after collecting her second Olympic gold in three days.

Biles began gymnastics at age 6 (a late start) and has been coached by Aimee Boorman since age 7.

“To me, I’m just the same Simone”. She was in her element, totally comfortable, with only her teammate to beat. Raisman looked powerful during her turn, and delivered what the announcers called “near perfection” in the event. I walked into Aly’s room and said “I have a very good feeling about today”. “I just stay out of it”.

“She’s just incredible”, Canadian Elsabeth Black said.

Simone Biles roundly dominated the women’s gymnastics all-around to rack up her second gold medal of Rio 2016.

Undefeated since she placed second behind 2012 Olympian Kyla Ross at a friendly meet in Germany three years ago, 19-year-old Biles has dominated domestic and global competition, becoming a 10-time world champion in just three years.
