Bill Clinton: Email rules were different for Hillary

“They want me to go, I would stay”. But, he wanted to know: Why should Americans trust the Democratic nominee when she lied about her emails?

And so began the ex-president’s unexpected fiery defense of one of the biggest controversies dogging Hillary Clinton’s White House bid.

“First of all, the Federal Bureau of Investigation director said when he testified before Congress, he had to amend his previous day’s statement that she had never received any emails that are classified”, he said. “They saw two little notes with a “C” on it”, Clinton said. “This is the biggest load of bull I’ve ever heard”.

Comey announced that nearly 100 emails were classified at the time they were sent.

“Do you really believe there are 300 career diplomats because that’s how many people were on these emails, all of whom were careless with national security? Do you believe that?” he said.

Mrs Clinton’s legal team turned over more than 30,000 emails from her server to the State Department last March, but only after deleting another 30,000 messages that the legal team deemed private and personal.

“If it were a cause for distrust, it’s inconceivable that all these prominent national security people. would’ve endorsed her”, he added.

There doesn’t appear to be anything so far suggesting that in the newly released heavily redacted emails from Judicial Watch, but those emails do raise questions about whether the relationship between the State Department and Clinton Foundation was too cozy, particularly after Clinton pledged she would not be involved with the foundation when she became secretary of state in an effort to prevent an inappropriate relationship.

Bill Clinton says it was a mistake for Hillary Clinton to maintain a personal email server even though her predecessors and her successor at the State Department did it.

Officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Department of Justice met several months ago to discuss opening a public corruption case into the Clinton Foundation, according to a United States official.

Meanwhile Republican rival Donald Trump said the only way he could lose in Pennsylvania is if there was cheating.

The former official said the investigation is being coordinated between bureau field offices and FBI managers at headquarters in Washington, D.C. The unusual process would ensure senior FBI supervisors, including Director James Comey, would be kept abreast of case progress and of significant developments.
