Bill Clinton launches attack on Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire
Manchester, New Hampshire (CNN)Hillary and Bill Clinton didn’t back off their critiques of Bernie Sanders during a rally in Manchester on Monday, despite receiving some negative press for them the day earlier.

“‘Anybody who takes money from Goldman Sachs can’t possibly be president.’ You heard that, sort of, in the last debate”, Bill said, referring to Sanders’ attacks on Hillary Clinton for accepting large speaking fees from Goldman Sachs. While Bernie Sanders has spoken out on Flint, going beyond Clinton’s criticism of Michigan Governor Rick Snyder to demand he resign, he still hasn’t prioritized as much as Clinton has. Meanwhile, Sanders’ wife Jane and three of their grandchildren joined him onstage at a rally in Durham. Sanders won the youth vote in Iowa with a stunning 84%, and polling in New Hampshire indicates that 64% of women under 45 are “feeling the Bern”.
Sanders said his campaign was generating excitement not seen in other campaigns – an indirect shot at Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
Hillary Clinton and Sanders have sparred over the former secretary of state’s relations to Wall Street and her authenticity as a “progressive candidate”.
Sanders is leading the polls by double digits among Democratic candidates in New Hampshire, according to the latest CNN/WMUR tracking poll.
Bill Clinton also got in on the gender issue, ripping Bernie Sanders supporters for what he called “sexist” comments.
“When you’re making a revolution, you can’t be too careful with the facts”, Clinton said, citing Sanders’ health-care proposals as unrealistic.
Arthur Lupia, a political science professor at the Center for Political Studies at the University of MI, said Clinton was accusing Sanders of being inconsistent by not following through with his pledge. “It didn’t change his view”, she said.
On Tuesday we’ll find out if New Hampshire is good to the Clinton’s for a third time.
“I’m constantly trying to balance how do I assume the mantle of a position as essentially august as president of the United States, not lose track of who I am, what I believe in and what I want to do to serve?” she said.
“Free college for everyone sounds better than what I said …”
The problem for Clinton, one Democratic strategist with knowledge of the campaign says, is that, in many ways, the die was cast a couple of years ago.
Rollene Saal, my mother-in-law and a former Wellesley grad like Clinton, said if young women today don’t feel an allegiance to Clinton, it’s because they are “post-feminists” and because women such as Clinton cleared the path for them today. I mean, it’s just not going to happen.
“Look, here’s the thing, you know what, I’m an independent guy, nobody tells me what to do but I’m not way out here”. “And to all the young people who are supporting my opponent, I thank you too”.
“Sen. Sanders has changed his posture, questioning Hillary Clinton’s integrity, intentions and motives”, said a Clinton aide.
By mid-morning Friday, Bill Shaheen, a former co-chair of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 campaign, had made at least 25 calls to friends and neighbors. “And it worked out pretty well for you, didn’t it?”

The Ohio Republican replied, “Well, I’ll tell you, the grounds on which I might favor one of them”.
