Bill Cosby Breaks His Silence, Thanks Fans A Day After Arrest
Bruce L. Castor Jr., the district attorney who oversaw the 2005 investigation, declined at the time to arrest Cosby, citing insufficient evidence to support any charge.

Actor and comedian Bill Cosby arrives for his arraignment on sexual assault charges at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania December 30.
Cosby was spotted dining with his family at his sprawling Pennsylvania mansion after his court appearance Wednesday before boarding his private plane to MA later in the evening, according to The Daily Mail.
The charge stems from accusations levelled by Andrea Constand, 44, a former basketball team manager at Temple University in Philadelphia, Cosby’s alma mater.
Lawyers for dozens of women who have accused Bill Cosby of sex assault or attempted molestation over the past 40 years say their clients are grateful a prosecutor in Pennsylvania has brought criminal charges against the comedian. “And I also was operating under the desire that I wanted to arrest Cosby, because I wanted to punish him and, going along with that, I wanted all the attention that that would bring not only to victims of sexual assault, but to me personally!”
“Friends and fans, Thank You”, he wrote.
The case sets the stage for perhaps the biggest Hollywood celebrity trial of the mobile-all-the-time era and could send the 78-year-old Cosby to prison in the twilight of his life.
He is charged with drugging and sexually assaulting the woman in 2004 inside his home near Philadelphia. Of the 50 or so women who have come forward claiming Cosby in some way violated them, Constand’s case stands out because it’s the one that has earned Cosby his first criminal charge.
Victoria Valentino also said she cried when she saw Cosby’s mugshot.
By Wednesday afternoon, following a short visit to an Elkins Park courtroom, a sweater-wearing Cosby was released at $1 million bail and ordered to surrender his passport.
Cosby tripped on a kerb as he made his way into court.
Those were the words of Monique Pressley, Bill Cosby’s attorney who was speaking to Savannah Guthrie on the TODAY programme in the USA this morning.
Pressley disagreed. She said the charge “came as no surprise” after a hotly-contested district attorney’s race that drew national attention.
Cosby is charged with drugging and sexually assaulting the woman.
“Prior bad acts” are sometimes allowed as evidence in criminal cases, but judges often take a dim view of such testimony because it can be so damaging.
Weeks after the decision not to prosecute Cosby in 2005, Constand sued Cosby for sexual battery. “What we have is the fulfillment of a campaign promise”, Pressley said on ABC’s “Good Morning America”.
Add Chelsea Handler to the list of people who want to talk to Bill Cosby. “I will not sit in silence any longer and no one believed this woman and I did because her story was my story”, said Barbara Bowman, an alleged victim of Cosby.

He has vehemently denied all of the allegations. “So if a judge chooses to consider from a prosecutor such testimony, then we will deal with that at that time”.
