Bill Cosby: Comedian sues seven of his accusers for defamation
In a counter-lawsuit filed this week against the women who took him to court over his alleged sexual assaults, Cosby claims defamation, saying their accusations, which he has maintained are false, cost him the Netflix and NBC deals.

Cosby has been accused of assaulting dozens of women over the course of four decades, with some of the women claiming he drugged them or supplied them with drugs.
The seven women named in the suit were Tamara Green, Therese Serignese, Linda Traitz, Louisa Moritz, Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis and Angela Leslie, Pressley said.
The papers, submitted in response to the defamation suit the seven women filed, accuse them of “malicious, opportunistic and false and defamatory accusations of sexual misconduct”. He says they are lying about him for financial gain.
Cosby is also demanding that the women “publicly retract and correct their defamatory statements”, Pressley said.

More than 50 women accuse the actor Bill Cosby to have raped her. He sued seven of them now for libel. It states, “Falsely accusing another of sexual assault is morally repugnant and subjected Mr. Cosby to severe emotional distress from public ridicule, shame, and contempt of such a nature that no reasonable person could be expected to endure it”.
She says the next thing she remembers is him having sex with her from behind.
The women’s lawsuits were first filed in December 2014.
Joseph Cammarata, a lawyer representing the women, stated that Cosby’s countersuit is merely a retaliatory tactic, and that Cosby’s suggestion that the campaign against him was orchestrated is “hard to fathom”.

“Mr Cosby’s admitted conduct, which the University learned about only after awarding him the degree, demonstrates that his character fails to reflect the integrity and virtues that the University values and esteems in members of its community, and in those persons the University holds up for this particular honour”, the school said in a statement. Through his attorneys, he has repeatedly denied allegations of wrongdoing and has never been charged with a crime.
