Before she met Cosby, Constand was enjoying the fruits of a driven career. Steele’s television ads and public statements were critical of his opponent for passing on the Cosby case.
When Constand first met Cosby, she was the director of operations for Temple’s women’s basketball team.
At least 58 women total publicly accused Cosby of targeting them in incidents like the one Constand described to police. Indeed, the case was a hot topic during the race between Steele and D.A. Bruce Castor, who in 2005 declined to pursue criminal charges in this matter. One exception: a 2008 case involving a model at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles.
In the case of Cosby, prosecutors may indeed be able to present allegations that the comedian had a common way of operating. “It was embarrassing to say that the evidence isn’t strong enough or this doesn’t matter enough”. “So if a judge chooses to consider from a prosecutor such testimony, then we will deal with that at that time”.
