Bill Cosby’s Lawyer Says His Felony Charge Is Thanks to ‘Political Football’
The day after Bill Cosby was charged with sexual assault, his attorney Monique Pressley appeared on all three of the broadcast network morning shows, via video, where she defended her client and accused Montgomery County, Pa. district attorney-elect Kevin Steele of pursuing a political agenda.

When the judge said, “Good luck, Mr. Cosby”, he shouted: “Thank you!”
“For many of my 29 clients who allege that they are victims of Bill Cosby, seeing him criminally charged and having to face a trial is the best Christmas present they have ever received”, high-profile attorney Gloria Allred told reporters in Los Angeles.
Cosby was charged on Wednesday with sexually assaulting a woman in 2004 after allegedly plying her with drugs and alcohol, marking the first criminal case against a once-beloved performer whose father-figure persona was already left tattered by dozens of misconduct allegations. He did not enter a plea and spoke only to confirm he understood the terms of his bail, which was set at $1 million. After more than 50 women have since come forward with similar stories of abuse at Cosby’s hand, prosecutors recently reopened Constand’s case.
INSIDE EDITION also learned new details of what happened the night Andrea Constand says she was assaulted by Cosby.
Speaking to Savannah Guthrie on Thursday, Pressley maintained Cosby’s innocence and said the comedian’s defense team would not consider any kind of plea deal.
It was re-opened in the summer when a deposition by Cosby from the original case was unsealed for the first time in which he admitted buying powerful sedatives to use on women for sex.
Cosby’s lawyer said she expected prosecutors would try to establish a pattern of conduct against her client by bringing in allegations from his other accusers, but the defence would fight to keep inappropriate evidence out.
“I believe when you separate what happens in the court of law from what has been allowed to happen in the fictional court of public opinion, you will get an outcome that justice requires”, she said. The judge could decide such testimony would be unfair to Cosby. “I’m not going to look at the past or actions that weren’t taken at that point”.
“Shocked. And happy. Prayers answered”, Kaya Thompson said of her reaction.
The comedian, who has been the center of headlines in recent months after being accused of sexually assaulting numerous women throughout the years, took to Twitter to break his silence after yesterday’s court proceedings.
Pennsylvania authorities investigated the incident, but declined to press criminal charges in February 2005.
Her lawyer has said Constand is gay and was dating a woman around the time she met Cosby in the early 2000s.

Prosecutors on Wednesday said Cosby used wine and drugs to render Constand incapable of resistance after “the much younger, athletic victim” blocked two previous sexual advances.
