“Did he know when he gave you those prescriptions that you had no intention of taking them?” a lawyer asked Cosby in the 2005 deposition.

That was the introduction to Cosby’s 1971 album Bill Cosby Talks to Kids About Drugs, which won him a Grammy for Best Recording for Children the next year. A man having an affair or two or 20, even extramarital affairs, to me is not a news item. It’s history.” FYI: “affairs are history; alleged assaults should be investigated as possible crimes.
But Amar put his foot down when he learned Cosby had allegedly drugged and groped Tamara Green, a singer who Amar had introduced to Cosby, Hollis said. During the deposition, Cosby denies meeting Green during a singing audition arranged by Amar.
“In her presence, Amar confronted Cosby, nearly coming to blows”, the attorney said. Her attorney, Dolores Troiani, questioned Cosby under oath.
Cosby’s lawyer says his disgraced client only used the drugs for “recreational purposes and during consensual sex”, citing “countless tales of celebrities, music stars, and wealthy socialites in the 1970’s”. “The thing that upsets me the most is that we’re never going to see his work again because he’s gone forever and ever, and it’s unfortunate”.
According to the Washington Post, Cosby made appointments with Amar to obtain seven Quaalude prescriptions under the guise of a “sore back”. “That’s just the way he was”.
Amar, who grew up in Louisiana, graduated from medical school in 1963 and earned medical licenses in California, New York and Maryland.
Despite Amar’s defense there, however, the Post indicates that he was not only negligent in his practice, but also practically inept. Amar, who was black, would later tell investigators that he knew he wasn’t fully qualified as a plastic surgeon but felt that “because of his race he did not have an opportunity to obtain a residency in plastic surgery”. The abscess eventually ruptured and she was left with deformed breasts, which she had at least four surgeries to try to fix.
In 1979, Amar was disciplined for prescribing “dangerous” drugs to patients without examining them and aiding a business partner who practiced medicine without a license, according to filings in California. He also faced legal trouble for tax evasion.
