Bill Cosby sues model Beverly Johnson over drugging claim
LOS ANGELES Bill Cosby sued supermodel Beverly Johnson for defamation on Monday, calling her a liar over her claims that the comedian drugged and attempted to sexually assault her in the 1980s.

Cosby’s attorney, Monique Pressley, said in a statement that Johnson’s “entirely fabricated accusations are nothing more than an opportunistic attempt to resuscitate her own career and benefit herself financially from the wave of media attention”.
In both cases, Cosby is demanding compensation and punitive damages as well as court orders to keep the women from repeating their allegations.
A call to Johnson’s publicist Ann-Marie Nieves was not immediately returned.
Cosby and his camp have said women who have made similar allegations are engaging in “innuendo” and targeting him for financial gain, among other claims.
Though dozens of women have stepped forward to accuse Cosby of drugging and raping them in incidents that date back as far as the ’60s, he has yet to be charged criminally.
The former model has accused Cosby of drugging her in the 1980s, writing in her memoir she recalls becoming woozy after sipping a cappuccino Cosby prepared for her in his home.
Johnson and Cosby never spent any time alone together in the comedian’s home, and a dinner described by Johnson was also attended by Cosby’s wife, according to the lawsuit.
In the essay, Johnson said she had been reading lines in hopes of landing a small part on “The Cosby Show” when Cosby served her coffee spiked with something.
Cosby’s lawyers have continually denied the allegations and no criminal charges have ever been filed, though Cosby has testified under oath that he purchased Quaaludes with the intention of giving them to women he wanted to have sex with. “I knew that I was in danger”, she told ABC News in 2014.
This latest lawsuit comes against Johnson, who, like many of Cosby’s alleged victims, has spoken out with claims of having been taken advantage of by the famous comedian.
Bill Cosby is suing another one of his accusers.

Monday’s filing in Los Angeles Superior Court is the second such counterattack by Cosby in a week.
