Bill Cosby Wants Defamation Lawsuit Dismissed
Striking back legally against one of his many accusers, Bill Cosby on Monday filed a defamation suit against model Beverly Johnson, saying that she lied about him in an attempt to “resuscitate her own career”.

“Seeing an opportunity to thrust herself back into the spotlight and attempt to revive her flagging career as a model, actress and public personality, in December 2014, Defendant joined the campaign to assassinate Mr. Cosby’s reputation and character by willfully, maliciously and falsely accusing Mr. Cosby of drugging her at his home in NY and suggesting he did so in an effort to have sex with Defendant”, the complaint reads.
The 78-year-old entertainer is seeking unspecified damages and also wants a court order stopping Johnson from repeating her allegations.
Johnson and Cosby never spent any time alone together in the comedian’s home, and a dinner described by Johnson was also attended by Cosby’s wife, according to the lawsuit.
A representative for Johnson, 63, could not be immediately reached.
Renita Hill, of Baldwin, sued in October claiming Cosby drugged and had sex with her several times after they met on a children’s educational TV show in 1983.
Pressley filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
In recent years, more than 50 women have accused the comedian and actor of sexual assault or abuse.
Last week, Cosby countersued seven other women who have accused him of sexual misconduct.
Now Cosby’s attorneys have responded to the legal action by asking a judge to dismiss the case because it holds no merit, arguing Hill was never mentioned by name in the original statements of denial.
Cosby’s lawyer, Monique Pressley, released a statement on Cosby’s behalf about the lawsuit on Twitter.
Court documents unsealed in July showed that Cosby testified in a 2005 deposition that he had obtained Quaaludes pills with the intent of giving the sedatives to young women in order to have sex with them. Her suit, which she self-filed, claims Cosby’s former attorney defamed her by denying her allegations that the comedian raped her in a Detroit hotel room in 1974.

However, the women’s lawyer, Joseph Cammarata, has argued that he should be able to question Camille Cosby because she has served as her husband’s business manager.
