Bill Gates’ net worth has crossed the $90 billion threshold, according to a real-time rankings from Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index.

Before it’s here, it’s on the Bloomberg Terminal.

Most recently it has been boosted by the rising value of his investments in the Canadian National Railway Company and the water, hygiene and energy technologies firm Ecolab. His net worth surpassed $60 billion in 2012 and reached $80 billion two years later.

Wealth X, a wealth-tracking website in January had pegged Gates’ net worth at $87.4 billion; Forbes has him at $78.6 billion.

At $90 billion, Gates places himself tied for 18th with Alexander Turney Stewart-the investor of mail-order shopping in the 19th century-for wealthiest people of all time.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’ net worth rose $6.5 billion this year. It seems that the gods are continuing to smile on Gates, who has dedicated his wealth to saving the world from extinction.
