Bill Hader to get robotic for “Power Rangers” reboot

The Power Rangers reboot film’s hottest new casting announcement is Bill Hader’s addition as the bumbling, perpetually frazzled robot assistant, Alpha 5.

In the original TV show, Alpha 5 had a sibling-like relationship with the Rangers and was known for shouting, “Aye-yi-yi-yi-yi” – both when the robot is happy or upset. We’re hoping that this remains the Alpha 5 official character poster until the film is released.

Although the Rangers will all be portrayed by newcomers (RJ Cyler, Becky G., Ludi Lin, Naomi Scott and Dacre Montgomery), Hader joins the roster of supporting cast membes made up of some pretty big names. He acts as a technician, helping construct the Rangers’ weapons that they use against Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa.

Meanwhile, the Rangers are now gearing up for their debut in the New York Comic-Con (NYCC) next month, and they will be bringing some new artwork for fans.

Next year’s Power Ranger reboot is quickly coming out and in anticipation of the popular franchise, new previews and teasers have continued to roll out in preparation for its official launch.

SABAN’S POWER RANGERS follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat.

It comes after Lionsgate revealed it could make up to “six or seven” more “Power Rangers” movies.
