Bill O’Brien says JJ Watt ‘will play’ in Week 1
The Houston Texans moved three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt back to their active roster on Saturday, and are reportedly expected to play their star defensive end in the team’s regular season opener against the Chicago Bears on September 11.

Watt missed the entire preseason on the physically unable to perform list after having back surgery in July.

The 11th overall pick in the 2011 draft has started in all 80 games in his career.
“I would say that we’re headed in the right direction with him”. Before the Texans faced the Cardinals in their third preseason game Watt passed his conditioning test.
“I think with anybody that comes off of being out for a while, the first thing you want to look at is their level of conditioning”, he said. “I’m going to do everything I can”.
Despite those injuries, Watt won his third defensive player of the year award after recording 17.5 sacks last season. Brown probably isn’t as far along in his recovery as Watt and could miss Week 1.
