Bills Coach Rex Ryan Says Greg Roman Firing Was His Decision
In improving to 1-1, The Jets avoided a tremendous early season scare during the second quarter of a 37-31 victory over the Buffalo Bills (0-2) on Thursday night.

Sporting News has learned that Buffalo’s front office leaned on head coach Rex Ryan to make a significant change in hopes of appeasing a disgruntled fan base. In two games, off-season free-agent addition has combined for 52 carries for 196 yards and added seven catches for 68 yards.
Thursday night football featured a showdown in the AFC East between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets. “We’ve got to get better”. It’ll be more about just how we do things.
Ryan, who meets with owners Terry and Kim Pegula after every game, explained how the decision was finalized.
The Jets let their season opener slip away, falling to Cincinnati 23-22 last Sunday.
Winning in upstate NY for the first time since 2011 – when Fitzpatrick was the Bills’ quarterback and current Buffalo coach Rex Ryan was still commanding the Jets – avenged a loss in last season’s finale that kept the Jets out of the playoffs.
The Bills have been downright putrid on one side of the ball in each of their first two losses. “Most coaches can see two or three guys”, he said in a 2010 feature in The New York Times Magazine. “Coming back after a close game last week, to come back and get a win here in a hostile environment against a division rival is huge. It’s must win at all times”.
From holding the Ravens to just 13 points, Ryan’s defense let up almost 500 yards to a Ryan Fitzpatrick-led offense, and let the Jets convert on 8-of-13 third down attempts – in which they averaged almost nine yards per attempt.
Fitzpatrick threw for 370 yards, and Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker both had more than 100 yards receiving each, while Quincy Enunwa fell 8 yards shy of joining them. They gave up nearly 500 yards from scrimmage tonight, which is nearly never going to win you football games. “He got some treatment, but he’s walking around pretty good”. Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor threw for 298 yards and three TDs. “The communication has to be cleaner”.
Having barely started his second season with the Bills, Ryan can see what’s ahead as well as anyone.
“It was a big game”, Forte said.
“That’s something we definitely talked about going into the game”, Taylor said. “We did everything, but to their credit, it never mattered what we played because they were the better team”. The Jets were a much better team than we were today, especially their offense against our defense, it looked like a mismatch today.
Bowles said left guard James Carpenter (strained calf) and linebacker Erin Henderson (foot) were still undergoing tests and their status was unknown. However, when a coach gets released in week 2, what is going on?
The Buffalo Bills have started their 2016 season off in a disastrous way, to say the least. The Bills took over with just 10 seconds left and ran a failed hook and ladder play to end the game losing by six.

“I should have”, Bowles said of going for the conversion. “I think that helped me out a little”. Fitzpatrick came out throwing to him for 32 yards to the Bills’ 34-yard line.
