Bills DT Marcell Dareus facing 4-game drug suspension

According to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN on Tuesday, Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus is facing a four-game suspension for another violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.

Dareus says he’s apologized to his teammates and is embarrassed about the second consecutive season of violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Chase Utley got curtain calls after each of his two home runs – including a grand slam – in his first game in Philadelphia since a trade last season to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The reason for the suspension was not necessarily for testing positive for a banned substance, but Dareus missed a drug test that he was supposed to have. “All I’m going to say is we’re going to get to the bottom of it”.

“We still don’t have timetable as far as him playing”, Ryan said. “I don’t know where and how or why that would come up about me, but we’re going to look into it”.

“I understand there’s going to be some people that are going to be cynical of him”. But the majority of people, it’s more of a show-me thing.

Backup Corbin Bryant is expected to start in place of Dareus. “I believe that moving forward that this young man will learn from this experience and be a better person for it”. When the season opens September 11, Buffalo will be without rookie defensive end Shaq Lawson (shoulder, out first month of the season), linebacker I.K. Enemkpali (knee, out season), rookie linebacker Reggie Ragland (knee, out season) and running back Karlos Williams (suspension, four games).

– Two-time NFL Coach of the Year Bruce Arians was hospitalized Tuesday in San Diego, after the Cardinals coach complained of stomach pains. “Regardless of those [injuries and suspension], this defense will be better”. Outside linebacker I.K. Enempkali suffered a season-ending ACL tear in preseason action against the Colts and rookie inside linebacker Reggie Ragland will miss the entire season with a knee injury.

If Lawson’s suspension goes through, the Bills would have to pay a $250,000 fine for having three players suspended in the same year as per the NFL’s remittance policy.

There is a possibility that Lawson could face suspension from the National Football League, but it is not clear how long it would last.
