Bills fire Greg Roman two weeks into the season
Roman could not be reached for comment Friday.

It was way too early to hit the panic button as there is still plenty of football to play this season but heading into Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills, this was Fitzpatrick’s do-or-die moment. Thus far, after two games, in 2016 the Bills are ranked 23 in points, 29 in yards, 30 in 1 downs, 24 in passing, and 23 in rushing. You know it’s bad when the best pass break up for the Bills on Thursday came from a receiver trying to stop an interception. After running back Matt Forte gave NY a 13-7 lead with a one-yard rushing touchdown, the Bills followed it up with a drive that eventually stalled out due to an offensive holding penalty which took away a first down conversion, and later resulted in a Buffalo punt.
One was from Bills coach Rex Ryan. But they rebounded nicely against the Jets. His defense was absolutely torched by the Jets yesterday, although the offense’s ability to hold on to the ball certainly wasn’t helping matters. Rob Ryan, Rex’s twin, is Buffalo’s defensive coordinator.
By no means is this a good sign for Ryan’s future in Buffalo. He coordinated the San Francisco 49ers’ offense from 2011-14 under Jim Harbaugh and was with Harbaugh in the same capacity at Stanford. The team also can not dwell on the past two games, and will have to trust in each other and the coaching staff to try and find a way to start putting up some numbers on the win column.
“Coach Roman was my tight ends coach my first two years at Stanford”, Eagles tight end Zach Ertz told The Press in 2014.
His success can also be measured on the field. “I think Anthony [Lynn] will do that”.
Of course, it was Ryan’s decision to cut ties with Roman, as he stated publicly.
Rex Ryan, who, himself is on the hot seat this season, instead of falling on his own sword, has made a decision to firing OC Greg Roman, I know what everyone is thinking, but, the majority of the Bills 31pts came on either broken plays, and forcing turnovers. “I thought I was going to be fishing in my backyard in Florida”, the Jets’ star receiver said. But this guy is an outstanding coach and I’m excited to see him get this opportunity.
Things like the fact that the Bills were 13th in offense and 12th in scoring in 2015 under Roman with a first-time starting quarterback in Tyrod Taylor. This season is gearing up to be a disaster in Western New York for the Bills. “Sometimes it’s tough, sometimes they’re put in some tough situations, but I think they’ll bounce back”.

Currently, it’s looking more likely that it will be out instead of up, with Ryan eventually having something in common with Roman: Getting paid to not work for the Bills. He also interviewed with Jacksonville and Tampa Bay for jobs as offensive coordinator and was among the contenders for offensive coordinator openings with Cleveland and St. Louis.
