Bills’ Marcell Dareus Facing Four-Game Suspension For Violating Substance Abuse Policy

After a collision in practice with wide receiver Dez Lewis, safety Aaron Williams, who missed 13 games last season with a neck injury, is in the midst of the NFL’s concussion protocol. The same can not be said for linebacker Manny Lawson.

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles made his training camp debut Tuesday, though trainer Rick Burkholder downplayed his arrival by calling it simply “part of the process”. Dareus reportedly violated the league’s substance abuse policy.

Nearly immediately after hearing the news that Marcell Dareus was to be suspended four games, the Buffalo Bills learned that another prospective starter may be out for the first game of the year. Do you want to be a guy that violates the rules and out of the league in a couple of years?

Buffalo coach Rex Ryan and general manager Doug Whaley used the same words to describe their feelings – frustration and disappointment.

And those three don’t account for all of the Bills brushes with the law in the last seven months.

Saying “everyone makes dumb decisions”, Dareus has since apologized to his teammates, Bills staff and owners, as well as his family and fans.

“We will continue to take the necessary steps to work with (Dareus) in order that he adheres to the policies set forth by our league”, the Bills said.

Coach Jeff Fisher said Quinn approached him this summer when Camacho-Quinn was selected to the Puerto Rico national team, and the Rams allowed him to travel to Rio de Janeiro.

Dareus, 26, was named to the Pro Bowl in 2013 and 2014.

It’s bad news for a defense that’s already been hit hard by injuries.

As has been highly publicized, the Patriots will be without Tom Brady for the first four games of the season. It’s unclear how Lawson triggered the suspension, or why it’s only one game.

The practice went on without the coach.

Many of the Bills losses drag out through a quarter of the season or just a bit above it. He will be eligible to rejoin the team on October 3, a day after Buffalo plays at New England.

As for Ryan, though, he really has no other option than to persevere, call for the next man up and hope it doesn’t happen again. Ryan came in last season with his exuding his trademarked bravado.

The Bills were better stat-wise and record-wise prior to Ryan’s hire. “It’s a tough deal, but I still have a lot of faith in him as a person and I still think a lot of great things are ahead of him”.
