Bills Not Surprised by Odell Beckham’s Latest Antics
Beckham and Panthers cornerback Josh Norman tangled from the beginning of the Panthers’ 38-35 victory.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin defends Odell Beckham Jr., but not the receiver’s actions; Panthers cornerback Josh Norman has no love for Beckham; Titans coach Mike Mularkey acts as team spokesman; Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel wants some continuity; Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is not a fan of false reports; and Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins is a Twitter must-follow.
And, if National Football League referee Terry McAulay and his crew ejected OBJ from the game, possibly before that helmet-to-helmet hit, we might not be having the suspension conversation today. As Beckham prepared to fight his one-game ban, Rivera, the head coach of the undefeated Carolina Panthers, was declaring Tuesday that he was banning the Panthers’ baseball bat ritual.
The one game suspension was handed down late Monday and Beckham has already appealed, but his appeal will not be heard until Wednesday (December 23).
When watching this video, the first thing that comes to mind is why is the NFL allowing football players to walk around with baseball bats? While we realize that teams and individual players may have items they use as motivation or to symbolize a theme that the team has used this season, we ask that you instruct your club and player to leave those items in the locker room.
The Giants (6-8) face a key game on Sunday night at Minnesota. Harbaugh even had this to say aout one of the film’s most notorious villains: “I love Darth Vader”.
Neither the Giants nor Beckham have released any statements accusing the Panthers of taunting the wide receiver before the game with physical harm or homophobic slurs. According to some reports, the slurs continued throughout the game from Norman himself. I am not excusing Odell’s actions, but I do feel a little more sympathetic for him than I did on Sunday.
But does anything excuse a reaction like Beckham’s?
In a postgame interview, Norman Norman dismissed Beckham, saying “If you’re gonna come out here and dance around and prance around like you’re a ballerina…”, while teammate Cortland Finnegan said of Beckham’s distress, “maybe it’s female-related”.
“I will defend him as long as I’m able and I told our team that”.
“I’ve seen some of the clips but honestly they are benign”, Rivera said.
The Giants then mounted a 28-point comeback, including a game-tying touchdown reception by Beckham, before losing on a last-second field goal by Graham Gano.
Carolina (14-0) has won 18 straight regular season games and can wrap up the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs on Sunday with a win at Atlanta. Rivera said he heard nothing and wondered if some of the accusations were part of “spin control by somebody”.

They nearly certainly have to win both of their remaining games to have any chance at a postseason berth.
