Bills push panic in Week 2

However, Buffalo Bils head coach Rex Ryan decided on Friday to let go of second-year offensive coordinator, Greg Roman.

The Buffalo Bills’ solution for their bad defensive performance Thursday night was to fire offensive coordinator Greg Roman on Friday. “Always thought he’s a tremendous coach and I still believe that”, Ryan said.

Matt Forte rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns, Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 374 yards and a touchdown, and the Jets beat the Buffalo Bills 37-31 on Thursday night at New Era Field. His offenses never finished worse than eighth in the league in rushing, and the Bills led the NFL in the category in his first season with the team a year ago. “I think he’s a rare talent and we have to do things that I think will showcase those abilities a little bit”.

The Bills totaled 393 offensive yards against the Jets but 155 of them came on two plays. “I believe that and I believe we’re going to do what we can to put the ball in our playmakers’ hands and I think Anthony can do that”.

From holding the Ravens to just 13 points, Ryan’s defense let up almost 500 yards to a Ryan Fitzpatrick-led offense, and let the Jets convert on 8-of-13 third down attempts – in which they averaged almost nine yards per attempt.

The Bills scored two touchdowns in the first 3:32 of the second half to take a 24-20 lead.

It’s worth pointing out that the Bills have had some serious success on offense with Roman as the coordinator. The Bills, however, can opt out of the contract in each of the next two years. The number five defense in the league overall last season, they were sixth against the run, eighth against the pass, eighth in third down defense and seventh in points allowed.

“He gave up two plays and he knows he doesn’t want to give them up, and we know we don’t want him to give them up”, Bowles said.

Taylor, running back LeSean McCoy and wide receiver Sammy Watkins were not made available to the media after the team meetings Friday.

“It was a big game”, Forte said.

Currently, it’s looking more likely that it will be out instead of up, with Ryan eventually having something in common with Roman: Getting paid to not work for the Bills.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, who quarterbacked the Bills from 2009 through 2012, finally solved a Rex Ryan-coached defense by throwing for 374 yards and one touchdown as the Jets got some revenge on the Bills for the 22-17 loss that knocked them out of the playoffs on January 3. He brought in Ed Reed to add to the coaching staff, because that’s another one of ‘his guys’.

Lynn, 47, came aboard at the same time as Roman, although he has no experience as a play-caller.
