The track and field career for former Texas Longhorns and curent Buffalo Bills wide receiver is hardly over, as the former Olympian won the silver medal in the long jump at the Pan Am games on Wednesday.

Fellow American Jeffery Henderson won Wednesday at 28-0 1/4 (8.54 meters), and Emiliano Lasa of Uruguay took bronze with 26-9 3/4 (8.17 meters).

In college, Goodwin successfully balanced both sports, winning the NCAA Championship in the long jump twice before competing in the 2012 Olympics, where he finished 10th.

“I feel like I still have to prove a lot to the jumpers out there, ” he said.

“I’ve always dreamed of doing this, being able to be in the NFL and do track and field at the same time”. I make the calls on if I’m going to be here or going to be there, as opposed to football where other people are making that decision.

It would be almost impossible for anybody to jump from the 10-yard line to the end zone, especially with pads on.

The 24-year-old American, who is scheduled to attend NFL training camp next week with the Buffalo Bills, had a season-best jump of 8.27 metres in the third of six rounds to earn his first medal in global competition.
