Irwin was ecstatic with the win, screaming before blurting out: “Thank you so much for everything, I can’t believe that I’m here and just thank you for changing my life”. It was her partner, Derek Hough’s, sixth trophy as a dancing partner, who had nothing but praise for Bindi.

The youngster stormed to victory with professional Derek Hough, beating Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and Army National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos.

“I watched you as a little girl”.

Bindi Irwins wins the USA version of Dancing With The Stars.

“I could not think of a better way, a more ideal way to end this season”, judge Carrie Ann Inaba told the duo following their incredible last dance.

After performing the Viennese waltz again, that dance where Bindi was blindfolded, the crowd erupted in applause, further concreting why the 17-year-old deserved to take home the mirror ball!

After discovering that she was the show’s new champion, she said: “I am so speechless right now!”.

The theme for the dancers that evening was “Most Memorable Year” and Bindi chose 2006, the year she lost her father in a tragic, deadly encounter with a stingray.

“Being on the show has given me a bigger platform”, she said.

“She should put it in the zoo in the middle of the croc pond!” the Emmy-winning choreographer, 30, suggested to Us Weekly.

In a pre-recorded video before they performed the dance, Derek said: “It reminds me of where you’re from and your dad always being there no matter what”. Bindi was the first contestant announced for Season 21 and never really looked back.
