BioShock is a “permanent franchise” for Take-Two
We’re excited that more Bioshock seems to be on the way, but we hope it doesn’t stray far from what made the original games so great.

Bioshock originally launched in 2007, followed by a direct sequel in 2010, and Bioshock Infinite in 2013.
To date, Take-Two is credited with several successful series such as Grand Theft Auto, the Midnight Club racing series, and the Manhunt series. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the future of the franchise a few months after Irrational was closed down, saying, “We haven’t given any color on how you should think about [BioShock’s future] yet except we do believe it’s beloved”.

As for what Bioshock creator Ken Levine is up to now that he is no longer working on the franchise? Speaking at the MKM Partners Investor Conference, he said that the franchise is in the hands of 2K. Given the three-year gap between the other games in the franchise don’t be surprised if we hear more about the next BioShock relatively soon. The series is now being passed around 2K Studios, with 2K Marin being the last developer in charge of the series, though things may have changed since then. “They’ll make announcements in due time about any upcoming releases”. Levine is now developing a “highly creative and innovative” project, according to Zelnick. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has reassured fans that BioShock is here to stay.
