Republicans have enough votes to push a measure through the House if they stay largely united. Democrats are. Trump is responsible for putting DACA in limbo, but he will be on solid ground claiming Democrats caused the shutdown, and could end it at any time. Especially now that the government is taking renewal applications again. President Trump may believe himself a master showman and salesman who can manipulate the American people, but a shutdown could turn those people against him in a short period of time. It has to happen, whether it’s now or later.
