BJP members attack police horse in Dehradun, break its leg
Mounted police had been stationed near the assembly to stop the protest, held by BJP workers against the Congress government of Chief Minister Harish Rawat. Protest a little more about how the media did not give you a chance to defend your position, believes Ganesh Joshi, BJP MLA from Uttarakhand, who is now facing flak for putting up a gruesome show of animal cruelty. With multiple fractures, the veterinarians said the horse’s leg would have to be amputated.

“The horse fell down when someone pulled its saddle and the animal sustained a fracture on its leg”, he added.
The MLA mercilessly hit the white police horse leaving him in blood pool, according to reports.
As a result of this violent abuse from the politicians, the horse was badly injured and was then carried to a vet hospital in a truck. As soon as some water was given to the horse he was fine, he was just thirsty.
“The footage which the electronic media is showing by linking with an old clip – in which I am lifting a stick in front of the horse – has no connection at all [to the incident]”, Mr Joshi told the BBC.
Shaktimaan was purchased by the Uttarakhand police for Rs 95,000 in 2007 and made a part of the Dehradun team.
A case has reportedly been registered against the Mussoorie MLA and his followers.
MLA Joshi has claimed that the horse suffered the injury as its leg got trapped in the iron-angle on the roadside.
“I did not beat up the horse”, said Joshi. He denied the police had used lathis or horses to disperse the crowd.

Claiming that Harish Rawat government had done nothing except for making announcements, the State BJP chief said maximum work has been done under Centrally-sponsored schemes for which the credit should go to the Centre and not to the State government.
