Kirti Azad is one of the very few cricketers who found success on the political pitch. Azad has been punished for battling corruption, he said.
The party elders met after Azad called on them to come forward and look into the issue at a press conference in the morning today. The BJP sources said that had there been no action against Azad, Jaitley’s position would have become “untenable”. “I want specific answers”, Azad told reporters.
Azad more required Prime Minister Modi guarantee him and to appear into the problem justice. It is unfortunate that I was targeted for speaking the truth.
“I have not said anything against the party”. “I was saying this for the last 9 years…” I might need Modi ji inform me what my problem is, I’d like certain solutions and to appear into this.
They alleged that funds from the DDCA were siphoned off to people and companies favored by Jaitley, during his tenure.
BJP has charged the cricketer-turned-politician with involvement in anti-party activities and accused him of “colluding” with Congress and AAP to bring the party into “disrepute”.
Azad also said that he will file a PIL in his individual capacity over the DDCA issue soon.
Asked about his future programme, a defiant Azad said: “See, what happens now”.
“I fought against corruption in the DDCA outside the party”.
BJP spokesman G.V.L. Narasimha Rao added that the party acted against Azad, a three-time Lok Sabha member from Darbhanga in Bihar, for taking an “anti-BJP line”. Amit Shah also batted for him saying the party stands united with him. Azad also joined with opposition parties in raising the matter in the Lok Sabha. “He should order for an inquiry and must take action on this”.
“There is no democracy in the BJP”.
Azad, suspended for “anti-party activities”, sought help from the party’s “Marg Darshak Mandal” which comprises of Advani, Joshi, the now ailing former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh. “I’ve received a notice from the party and will respond to it. Subramanian Swamy said he will help me draft it”.
He alleged that it reflects the way BJP functions.
The Congress leader alleged that corrupt leaders of the party had got immunity from the Prime Minister.

“Is this what probity and accountability in public life is all about”, the Congress leader said.
