BJP’s action against Dayashankar Singh not enough, says Mayawati
There was a heavy uproar in Rajya Sabha yesterday. Dayashankar Singh, UP Vice President, who has crossed the line and made derogatory remarks about Mayawati, comparing her to a prostitute. He had stated that “Mayawati is breaking the dream of Kanshi Ram into pieces”. They certainly did in Uttar Pradesh within just 24 hours for two players – the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

Questioning her commitment to the dalit cause, Sharma said she did not visit the home of any dalit woman who were sexually assaulted under the Samajwadi Party government. Siddiqui ended the protest around noon after giving the ultimatum to the District Magistrate that Singh be arrested quickly.
Secondly, the party took the strictest action possible by expelling Singh from the party. “I apologise for the remark I made against Mayawati”, he said. He claimed it was a “slip of tongue” and that he “respected” Mayawati. I regret the use of such words and will ensure that the matter is taken up by the concerned. I can express myself through you people, which is a very big thing.
“But the language used by BSP workers during their protest on this issue were even more derogatory and insulting to the entire women community in the country”, he said.
Another complaint seeking an FIR against BSP leaders has also been lodged at the Hazratganj police station by Diwakar Singh, former student union president of Christian PG College. “Such a person [Dayashankar] should be sent to jail immediately”, she said. “Mayawati ji is an iron lady of BSP, using such derogatory remarks can not be tolerated”, she said. “They are angry. If the BJP had filed an FIR against Dayashankar they may have been able to win me over, but removing him from the party is just a formality”, said Mayawati in Delhi.
“On my birthday, I have told my supporters not to give me any expensive gifts like gold and jewelery but make economic contributions to the party”, she said.
This is the second FIR filed by Dayashankar’s family after he went absconding owing to dailt protests over his remarks on BSP supremo Mayawati.
“We do not support the statement given by Singh”.
A police team was sent to Dayashankar Singh’s house but he was not found there. I did not want to hurt anyone.
BSP workers burnt an effigy of the BJP vice-president for Uttar Pradesh.
Abrasive comments by BSP workers against sacked BJP leader Dayashankar Singh and female members of his family while registering their ire against the latter provided the right ammunition to the BJP which was pushed to the back foot tillThursday.
