Kolkata: BJP leaders and supporters on Monday held a massive protest outside Mamata Banerjee’s residence in Kolkata over attack on Roopa Ganguly’s convoy. A group of cadres belonging to the ruling party, Trinamool Congress, had allegedly attacked a group of BJP workers. Roopa Ganguly, who unsuccessfully contested against Laxmi Ratan Shukla of Trinamool from Howrah (North) constituency in the recent election, saw the two victims and gave a lift to two family members of the victims to their houses.

According to reports, when her convoy was nearing the vicinity some BJP members noticed a few of the accused in the Saturday incident nearby.

Some women pulled Ganguly’s hair and slapped the other women who were with her. Police immediately took over the situation and restrained the locals. Ganguly, along with her associates, tried to catch the accused but he managed to flee. They blocked the way of the convoy and started pelting stones at the vehicle. But the police stopped us…

No cases have been filed against the perpetrators of the incident. Sustaining head injury, Roopa Ganguly has been taken to Diamond Harbour Hospital. We want to know what she is doing to stop all this violence.

Terming the attack on Roopa Ganguly another instance of absolute lawlessness in West Bengal, former state BJP chief and national secretary Rahul Sinha demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits.
