BJP’s silence proves it does not stand with Dalits: Mayawati

Singh’s wife Swati yesterday demanded the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act to be imposed against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati and her party colleague Naseemuddin Siddiqui. “But the manner in which comments were made against Singh’s minor daughter, neither Siddiqui nor Mayawati apologised even once”, he said. The BJP is fighting the battle for the honour of all the daughters, Jaiswal said and added that the dharna in front of Vidhan Sabha would be a huge one.

Maurya said that it is the same BJP which had come to the rescue of Mayawati when she was attacked in state guest house on June 2, 1995.

Singh caused widespread outrage last week by characterising Mayawati’s ticket distribution for her party as worse than the “conduct of a prostitute”.

“To distract attention of the people ahead of 2017 UP Assembly polls from BSP, the issue was raked as a conspiracy”, she said. The court has posted the matter for July 28. I have to say that every police officer should know that under Article 105 of the Constitution, every member has right to say his or her stand in Parliament.

Swati met Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and lodged a complaint over the foul language allegedly used by BSP workers against the women members of her family.

Police had already said that it has got the entire protest videographed and would take action after examining the footage.

An FIR was filed against Mayawati along with general secretary Siddiqui and others on Friday, on a complaint by Dayashankar Singh’s mother Tetra Devi.

Dayashankar’s wife, Swati, on the other hand, had lodged an FIR against Mayawati, and other prominent BSP leaders, besides unknown workers, for their derogatory remarks while they protested against Dayashankar’s comments.
