Azad said, “someone with such a mentality should have no place in any party or hold any office in any party”.

“It is not right and I condemn the use of such words”.

In an attempt to do damage control, senior BJP leader and India’s Finance Minister Arun Jaitley apologised to Ms Mayawati in the parliament.

The complainant also submitted a compact disc containing a clipping of the news conference of the BJP leader in Mau on Tuesday.

She asked if Mayawati would take responsibility if anything happened to her or her minor daughter. “BSP leaders had demanded that we (me and my daughter) be sent to them.what have we done?.we are not in politics, ” she said.

The Una-Dalit incident will continue to cause uproar in the house, even as an army of political leaders are slated to visit the families of the victims.

The decision to suspend Singh was taken by BJP president Amit Shah, informed sources said. One of the most forceful one was Renuka Choudhry who spoke in anger.

She said mere expression of regret will not suffice and added, “The whole country will not forgive the BJP… people will come on the streets”. In an unusually emotional response, Mayawati said that everyone refers to her as “behenji” and she has never used derogatory or personal remarks against anyone. “It is unacceptable to criticise persons with differing opinions in such language”, she said in a statement. He said that Mayawati instead protecting the action of her supporters was concerning.

Demanding the arrest of former Uttar Pradesh BJP vice-president Dayashankar Singh for making derogatory remarks against her party chief Mayawati, a Bahujan Samaj Party leader from Chandigarh on Thursday offered Rs 50 lakh to anyone who brings his tongue.
