BJP to launch series of programmes to highlight Modi govt’s achievements

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled address to joint session of the Congress next month will give American people an opportunity to welcome him and illustrate their admiration and commitment as strategic partners to the Indian people, a USA lawmaker has said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s busy day on Capitol Hill on June 8 will underscore the significance the USA legislature has acquired in promoting ties between the two countries.

In the backdrop of some senior ministers having called Modi “God’s gift to India”, Surjewala said “Modi stuti (praising Modi) has become the conduct and character of this government”.

He added that he also liked the prime minister’s efforts to promote India as an investment destination.

The Prime Minister on Wednesday reviewed the progress towards handling and resolution of grievances related to disbursement of scholarships/fellowships to students, an official release said here.

He said his government had taken a series of measures to help repay the dues of sugarcane farmers, a politically important constituency in the region, while other governments were not concerned about them.

Leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge said that Modi had rigorously toured outside the country but could not spare time to visit the houses of the farmers who had committed suicide during his rule.

In the past two years, India has announced mega campaigns, among them the Make in India initiative to boost the domestic manufacturing sector. The government is also working fast to have more medical colleges.

“People of India are still with BJP and NDA government”, the BJP veteran said.

Meanwhile, top BJP leaders led by the party chief Amit Shah have highlighted the achievements of the government claiming they included empowerment of the poor, infrastructure growth and youth-led development.

Modi also boasted of his right-wing government’s graft-free record to date, in a jab at the previous Congress-led government that was embroiled in a string of corruption scandals during its decade in power.

“Labour reform should not just mean in the interest of industry”.

Advani said he will put forward various works undertaken by both these governments before people.

The reforms initiated by Indian government have been critical for foreign investors.

He further said that during the two years of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government there has been no case of graft and his government is accountable for every single penny.
