“I think we’ve seen the peak of it. In private, many retail CEOs wish they could wave a magic wand and do away with it”.

The sales weekend now looks to be moving towards a four-week long sales season all the way to Christmas, one expert said.
Over the past several years, Black Friday has developed a reputation as a wild and risky shopping day, with frantic shoppers obsessed with getting the most expensive items for the cheapest prices. And in the last few years, they’ve opened locations on Thanksgiving Day, a once-sacred holiday from retail.
At Best Buy (BBY – Get Report), there was a $50 discount for Apple Watch Sport models on Black Friday, and a $100 discount for stainless steel Apple Watch models.
The most popular items being wheeled out of the store included televisons and other household appliances.
Mobile sales made up 37 percent of Thursday’s online sales, which was 20 percent higher than the same day a year ago.
On Black Friday specifically, iPhone and iPads drove $670 million in sales, while Android drove $230 million in sales.
“We had a lot of shoppers last night”, she said Friday afternoon. We’re doing really good. Black Friday normally dangles portable computers but the budget kind.
Meanwhile, at Northgate Mall – the Hixson mall also owned by CBL Properties – it was a similar story.
“I’ve done the whole midnight shopping thing before and it’s not something I want to do again”, said Blackwell, who is an Atlanta resident.
Holiday shoppers spent a record-breaking $27 billion online before Thanksgiving (November 1st through 24th) which was followed by another $1.73 billion on Thanksgiving Day and $2.72 billion on Black Friday.
ShopperTrak, the leading global provider of consumer behavior insights and location-based analytics, today released its preliminary sales estimate for brick-and-mortar retail on Thanksgiving Day (11/26/15) and Black Friday (11/27/15). But even the protesters were calmer than usual, with many stopping to take pictures of Black Friday shoppers who took photos of them.
Maybe they will, but they’re already playing catch-up from fairly far behind.
Reports on in-store sales are expected later this weekend.
Starting Thursday afternoon lines formed outside of stores that opened on Thanksgiving for Black Friday sales. That’s the MO this year as all sales promotion just gets earlier and earlier.
“Sales today have been equal to last year’s sales”, Brian Thedford, general manager of Don’s TV and Appliance, said. Throughout the sale, there will be thousands of Lightning Deals released with new deals be revealed every 5-minutes during the sale. “We just do that one for Small Business [Saturday]”. About 183 million people are expected to place orders online Cyber Monday.
Shopper traffic on Black Friday fell by 4.05% compared to past year, according to retail experts FootFall. “The sales Monday through Wednesday were 25 percent up over previous year”.

Other shoppers noted that their yearly shopping venture is something that has become a part of their holiday tradition.
