Black-ish: Season Two

The second season of Black-ish begins Wednesday night. That’s how I felt.

When last we saw the Evans family, J.J. had gotten his dream job, Michael’s in college, Thelma’s husband Keith gets another shot at an National Football League team, Willona gets a great new job and apartment; and Florida moves in with Thelma who is about to make her a grandmother.

The word became a hot-button topic in his household when he found out his 16-year-old daughter’s non-Black friends were using the word just a little too comfortably.

“I could put up a big argument that it (the word) has polarized and galvanized this country in a way that nothing else has”, he said.

The only problem is too many Black viewers might be paying closer attention to Fox’s hit hip-hop soap Empire, which also roars back for a second season tonight. Josh wants to know if “African-American” is OK to say. When the drama debuted earlier this year-Black-ish debuted in fall 2014-it nabbed a third of the comedy’s Black audience.

There’s a chance Obama could be making a future appearance on the show Black-ish. “We pride ourselves on telling stories that are diverse to spark point of view and start conversations”.

The role for “black-ish” in this social maelstrom?
