Black Lives Matter Protest Planned Wednesday at Mall of America
Officials say a total of 12 people were arrested during the Black Lives Matter protest that started at the Mall of America but quickly moved to Minneapolis-St.

Hogan added that more than 100 police officers responded and multiple people were arrested on various charges, including obstructing justice.
Black Lives Matter Minneapolis has been holding daily demonstrations to protest the fatal police shooting of Jamar Clark, 24, who they said was handcuffed when he was shot in the head on November 15.
Separately, another eight people were arrested in a small demonstration in San Francisco, reports said, on what the activist group branded “Black Xmas”. Two security checkpoints closed for about 45 minutes, causing flight delays but no cancellations, airport spokesman Patrick Hogan said.

“There will be no business as usual until we get accountability for our dead, and justice for the living”, the group said. Demonstrators remained in the Mall of America for about an hour and a half. Restraining order or not, on the day before Christmas Eve, protesters will assemble at the Mall of America; there will be cameras; and millions will be watching. Paul International Airport on Wednesday after staging a rally that briefly shut down part of the nation’s largest mall. Stores in the mall had to close, and dozens of people were arrested.
Michael McDowell, Miski Noor, and Kandace Montgomery, three activists from Black Lives Matter, were barred by a judge from entering the Mall of America, but that didn’t stop hundreds of their supporters from showing up in their place.
The hashtag #BlackxMas2 came about on Twitter as Minneapolis protesters decamped from the mall to the airport. Security guards cordoned off parts of the central rotunda, and officers from several cities patrolled inside.
Gov. Mark Dayton said Wednesday afternoon that the moving protest created a “very, very risky situation”.
“I’m here shopping and I’m being kicked out of #MOA”, a white-haired woman who identified herself as kderong wrote on Twitter, as others posted photos of police in riot gear blocking a mall hallway. They also want to ramp up the pressure on investigators to release video of the shooting.

On Tuesday, the mall sought a court order to prevent the planned protest, which would impede shoppers and cause businesses to lose money on one of the final days before the Christmas holiday. She declined to say whether she or her fellow organizers still planned to go to the mall, but she said she expected hundreds of protesters to show up – including some prepared to be arrested. A judge banned three demonstration organizers from going to the mall, but said she couldn’t bar other unnamed protesters from attending.

Protesters at the mall were met by a phalanx of police officers who ushered the peaceful demonstrators out as the largest mall in the country went into lockdown.
