Black Lives Matter Protests Go Global, From Ireland to South Africa

The majority of Americans, including police officers and those in the Black Lives Matter movement, believe in a criminal justice system that provides “equal justice under th law” for everyone, regardless of who they are.

Those attending the meeting included Gov. John Bel Edwards of Louisiana and Mayor Chris Coleman of St. Paul, Minnesota, the two locations where police shootings sparked protests around the country.

“I think it’s the president’s desire to try to move the ball forward and make some progress in helping communities identify steps that they can take to address this problem”, White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters.

There are now dozens of Black Lives Matter chapters across the US. “The first time I heard it, I said ‘you have to be kidding”.

Other activists present include the Rev. Al Sharpton and NAACP President Cornell Brooks.

Tabor said all the officers in his force are impartial and adds video technology has changed the way people perceive police nationally.

The group discussed how they can improve police-community relations – from recruitment and training of officers to protecting the rights of protesters. “I think that too often we comment about statistics”. This is about emotion.

“He’s taking, I say, advantage of the power he has and that’s wrong and it should be stopped or someone should do something about it”, said Melissa Regino, West Linn resident.

“It’s not that no other race matters, we are just saying we are the ones under fire right now”, Brianne Murray said.

Giuliani, during a televised interview with CBS’ “Face The Nation”, said blacks themselves, not police officers, present the greatest threat to the African-American community..

He did not offer detail about the complaints, but said Mr Obama stressed how he had repeatedly voiced support for law enforcement and offered to send critics a list of when he had done so.
