BLACK OUT FRIDAY: Chicago Protesters Plan Black Friday Demonstration Over
Small groups of demonstrators gathered again Wednesday to protest the death of a black teen shot by a white police officer, and they urged supporters to join them in trying to shut down Chicago’s famous Michigan Avenue shopping district during the Black Friday shopping bonanza.

The incident was captured on police dash cam.
The dashcam video showing McDonald’s death is painful to watch.
The Chicago police said they did not have a crowd estimate, though there appeared to be hundreds of protesters.
But the public’s not buying it. “I pay to keep it unlisted”, she said.
Many shoppers on Michigan Ave. told BuzzFeed News that they couldn’t understand why the demonstrators were targeting retailers. We’re not going to let places get looted.
Throughout the week, protesters have expressed anger over the video of the shooting. He points out that Chicago city officials knew about the brutal slaying of Laquan McDonald for over a year, yet allowed Officer Van Dyke to continue drawing a city paycheck. And there lies the real issue.
Laquan McDonald never had a chance to do much of anything.
Van Dyke is being held without bond.
In an press conference Friday, Chicago police Superintendent Garry McCarthy announced the arrest of 27-year-old Corey Morgan in the “unfathomable targeted execution” of Tyshawn Lee. The mayor said it would be premature to release the video because of the ongoing FBI investigation.
He stepped away, and wiped tears from his eyes.
All this leaves Alvarez wide open for major criticism.
“We’re marching ultimately for the black community to have the authority in our own neighborhoods”. Their memory will not wane.
“In a sense the city was born in bloody protest: the 1812 Fort Dearborn Massacre, when Native Americans rose up and attacked soldiers departing from a fort built on land that was incorporated as the City of Chicago 25 years later”, longtime Chicago political consultant Don Rose writes in an essay. Van Dyke was charged with first-degree murder earlier this week.
“The family of Laquan McDonald and the people of Chicago deserve justice and accountability”, Clinton said in a statement. She asked in that NBC 5 Investigates not determine her. …
Another pushing and shoving melee ensued and quickly turning violent, as police began grabbing people and throwing them out of the way – including two female reporters wearing visible credentials, representing the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune.
Emanuel and other officials said they delayed making the tapes public to avoid tainting the investigation of Van Dyke.
As the sound of sirens filled the air, police were met with shouts of “16 shots” – the number of times the officer charged with murder fired at Laquan McDonald, 17, in October 2014 – and “No Black Friday!” It also raises disturbing questions about the Cook County prosecutor, Anita Alvarez, and federal prosecutors.
“You can not kill our children and expect us to be quiet any longer”, protester Quovadis Green said.
“And also they did not report what had happened – that’s the culture”.
“At 9:57:36, McDonald has crossed over the white lane divider away from the officers, and Officer Van Dyke has taken at least one step towards McDonald with his weapon drawn”.

Activists have said more than 20 misconduct complaints were filed against Van Dyke during his career without him facing any disciplinary action. The Magnificent Mile Association released a statement Thursday that said in part, “We respect the American freedom to assemble and the process in the pursuit of social justice”.
