“This meeting was wonderful”. “And the fact is, people can say anything, but the facts are the facts, and that didn’t happen in New Jersey that day and hasn’t happened since”.
Two pastors from the Richmond area offered different opinions of how the meeting went down. It didn’t go longer for other reasons.
In an impromptu news conference after the meeting, Trump was again unapologetic.
Regarding Black Lives Matter, Trump dismissed the movement, saying, “Black lives are very important, white lives are very important, and to me all lives are very important”.
ABC News reports, Trump’s campaign initially promoted the meeting as an endorsement, sending out press material to outlets and concluded a press conference would be held afterward, but later canceled the conference and no media was allowed to attend. He then added, “we voiced concerns that were sensitive to the African-American community”. He told the crowd he never served because of various deferments but came close to getting drafted near the end of the war. You’re ahead in the polls now because of your big mouth …
Rev. Jamal Bryant, the pastor at Empowerment Temple Church in Baltimore, not only declined to meet with the billionaire but also thinks those who did show up are “sell outs”, calling them “prostitutes” for showing any type of support or solidarity for the divisive candidate.

Trump predicted the television pundits will call him “chicken” if he carries out his threat, but he attached little value to the opinions of the “talking heads, who are not smart people at all”. He also noted that the pastors also called for firm and effective leadership.
