Republican front-runner Donald Trump – who holds a rally in Macon on Monday night – and Ben Carson have been doing what few expected when the two outsiders burst on the scene this summer: organizing real campaigns in the SEC states. She added: “To emphasize, I am not attending this meeting on Monday to endorse any candidate”. The endorsement comes as Mr. Trump has faced criticism for stoking racial tension and has seen his support among evangelical Christians start to waver in polls as voters consider Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and [Dr.] Ben Carson.

Donald Trump had the Internet up in arms yet again this past week when it was announced that the Republican presidential candidate would meet with a group of black pastors.

[Trump] has a private meeting with the group scheduled on Monday before they make their offer of support official, according to his campaign. It’s a coalition meeting. Will any of the attendees appear with Trump and endorse him?

At the very least, let’s just say confusion reigns.

Several of the pastors involved spoke out online after the Trump campaign said they would be endorsing him.

“The meeting was presented not as a meeting to endorse but a meeting to engage in dialogue”, Bishop Clarence McClendon, a pastor based in Los Angeles wrote on Facebook. In a separate post that day, she also described the candidate as “an insult and embarrassment”. “Zero experience. Flaunting a ticket of unbridled bigotry, sexism, racism and everything that is wrong with America”. “This is closed to press and therefore no media credentials will be provided”.

“On Monday, Mr. Trump will host an informational meet and greet with many members of the Coalition of African American Ministers”.

But some of the black pastors planning to attend the meeting pushed back on the notion it was an endorsement, prompting Trump’s campaign to cancel a news conference after the meeting. “That is why I am proud to be the Co-Chair of the Florida Veterans for Donald Trump, and pledge to rally other veterans behind the only man that will fight for us, Donald J. Trump”.

“Probably some of the Black Lives Matter folks called them up and said, ‘Oh, you shouldn’t be meeting with Trump because he believes that all lives matter, ‘” Trump said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe”.

“Fourteen, 15 years ago, they didn’t put it in files”.

Bishop Paul S. Morton tweeted Friday that he refused to meet with Trump, calling the candidate disrespectful.

Trump predicted some of the 100 black evangelical leaders would endorse him after the meeting, nonetheless.
