BlackBerry announces Android 6.0 update for the Priv smartphone
BlackBerry said in November that the Priv – its one and only Android handset, which has continued shipping with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop onboard since then – would be upgraded to Marshmallow sometime this year.

As with every Android Marshmallow device, the BlackBerry PRIV gets Doze mode, which dramatically reduces power consumption when a device is in standby, and hasn’t been used for some time.
There’s customised personal data permissions, allowing users determine what information an app can access.
New Apps in BlackBerry Hub – Now view notifications from even more of your favorite social media apps – including Instagram, Skype, Slack and Pinterest – directly in BlackBerry Hub to easily manage all your messages in one place. For example, if an application does not request microphone it will not appear in the list. BlackBerry has also added the ability to swipe to enter text on both the physical and virtual keyboards. There are also 200 new and update emoji and improved word prediction and cursor control.
With BlackBerry’s PRIV, the company made use of these and implemented its own added security measures, letting you control them by using the built-in DTEK app.
The full release of Android 6.0 to BlackBerry Priv handsets comes less than a month after the firm announced plans to roll out a Marshmallow beta to those signed up to its beta testing programme. You’ll see yellow when your call is muted and green when it isn’t.
Other, perhaps more minor, updates include the fact that pop-up widgets are now turned on by default for new users, and more simple gestures have been added to set a default home screen, delete a home screen or remove apps. The update arrives following a very brief beta program for the Priv Marshmallow update.

BlackBerry also said that camera updates mean you can record 4k videos at 24fps or slow-motion shots at 120fps.
