BlackBerry Appoints Cisco Executive Carl Wiese As President Of Global Sales

The CEO noted that pursuing a sale of BlackBerry’s assets doesn’t make any logical sense. Even if, BlackBerry is quite popular for its secure devices and is being used by government agencies even today, it could not conform to the change in the fast changing smartphone industry which was flooded with new smartphones from companies like Apple, Samsung, HTC, reports Tech Times. The CEO wants to first take BlackBerry’s stock price to a certain level that he feels adequately represents the company’s true worth, before selling opportunities could be scouted. Chen joined the company in November 2013 and has since been taking steps to increase BlackBerry’s market share in the smartphone industry. I have a fiduciary responsibility to listen. Not until the BlackBerry shareholder has good value reflecting truly what we have. “But until then, there’s not point in listening”.
Among other things the Mr. Chen also weighed in on BlackBerry’s hardware and software business.
Wiese had served as senior vice president in charge of Cisco’s global collaboration business, Waterloo, Ontario-based BlackBerry said in a statement Monday.

Total revenue was $658 million in the quarter that ended in May, down 32 percent from the same period a year ago. However, rumors have been surfacing that BlackBerry will launch a few handsets dubbed Venice and Prague that will come running on the Android platform.
