More than 19,000 businesses are now testing, deploying or using Google’s Android for Work service, the company announced in a blog post yesterday.

In this regard, the Canadian come has made extensive improvements under the hood, but also added a few of its own apps and services, which are supposed to be more secure than others available on Android platform. These apps are kept separate from the user’s personal content, meaning that sensitive business data remains secure, and users do not have to worry about their employers snooping on their private affairs. These updates will include enterprise-managed updates, as well as general vulnerability updates that Google notifies OEMs about.
“Businesses are responding to Android’s choice and flexibility, enjoying the range of price points and form factors – from the ultra stylish to the ultra rugged”.
The BlackBerry Priv is the company’s first Android smartphone, and the firm isn’t taking that lightly.
As of now Google has collaborated with over 80 companies for the Android for Work initiative, including the likes of BlackBerry, SAP, Citrix, Cisco, and F5.
Speaking of equipment manufacturers, BlackBerry has agreed to provide monthly security updates to its Android devices (starting with its just-launched Priv smartphone), and will also make them capable of receiving security hot fixes for serious problems. Andrew Toy, Android for Work’s product management director, stated that Google is offering Nexus device to the business since the device has the privilege of running the latest version of Android. So by reintroducing BES and management software, BlackBerry will be giving a few of the control back to the company’s IT department.
BlackBerry says that every person to buy Priv directly from BlackBerry will get those security updates as soon as they’re ready. In the event of such an exploit coming to light, the company will push a targeted “hotfix” aimed specifically at closing it, without waiting for the next monthly update.

BlackBerry Priv is already available for pre-order in several countries, but by the end of the year, the smartphone should be introduced in many more regions.
