BlackBerry launches Priv Android smartphone in Hong Kong

While it won’t be so widely available to begin with, it should be interesting to see just how popular a physical QWERTY keyboard will be in a time where touchscreen-only phones are the norm, even if the target audience is the enterprise market.

Blackberry’s first Android-powered smartphone, the PRIV, is coming to the United States this Friday on November 6 through AT&T.

BlackBerry fans, who are hoping for the upcoming BlackBerry Priv Android phone to arrive on Verizon, have been thrilled to see an image of the handset posted on Instagram. AT&T Next 24 offers the A9 for $17.34 monthly for 30-months; Next 18 offers the device for $21.67 for 24-months; Next 12 offers the device for $26 for $20 months.

For Next 24, the price drops down to $24.67. The current pricing options are for AT&T’s Next financing program, which allows you to pay for your device in installments, as well as a Two-Year Commitment plan. BlackBerry CEO John Chen also mentioned during several interviews that the device would be available across all wireless carriers. The carrier revealed that it will be the first in the U.S. to carry the privacy and productivity focused BlackBerry.

Like with Sprint, BlackBerry’s pre-order website for the Priv also lists Verizon as a carrier that the handset is not compatible with, so a release doesn’t seem likely for Verizon.

A new live picture leaked via Instagram shows the Verizon version of BlackBerry Priv, which hasn’t been announced yet, Crackberry reports.
