BlackBerry Priv and DTEK50 receive update fixing all QuadRooter vulnerabilities
The PRIV and DTEK50 are now safe from QuadRooter.

The QuadRooter exploits were unveiled during the DEF CON hacking conference at the beginning of August.
QuadRooter is a recently discovered Android security vulnerability that’s said to impact hundreds of millions of devices.
Earlier this month it was reported that phones sporting a Qualcomm chipset had a security vulnerability called Quadrooter. However, the last one is only scheduled to arrive with Google’s September security patch.
BlackBerry points out that, thanks to a secure boot chain that is embedded in all BlackBerry devices, the remaining issue is naturally mitigated.
BlackBerry however couldn’t wait, which makes sense considering that the Canadian company likes calling the DTEK50 “the world’s most secure Android phone”. By releasing the security patch first, the enterprise puts its money where its mouth is. The updates patch QuadRooter’s fourth security vulnerability on both phones, and you can download your phone’s update by going to Settings About phone System updates on your Priv or DTEK50. The update should roll out over-the-air in the next few days to all handsets out there. In addition, all phones running Android 4.2 or higher and use Google Play have built-in protections that scan apps and warn the user before the installation.
