Canada-based smartphone manufacturer BlackBerry announced that the company managed to sell 600,000 units of its Priv Smartphone in the fourth fiscal quarter, ending September previous year. We’re kicking off the first beta program of the Android OS in BlackBerry Beta Zone.
We can expect the Canadian company to make an announcement for the Indian market shortly.
BlackBerry has just kicked off its first Beta programme for Android OS in the Beta Zone for its flagship model powered by Android – the BlackBerry Priv. This programme will allow users to get a sneak peek of what is coming in the official Android Marshmallow upgrade for the Priv smartphone.
However, the access to the beta version is restricted to users who bought their BB Priv phones Amazon, Carphone Warehouse, and ShopBlackBerry as reported by Device Mag.
The latest price drop applies to the U.S., UK, Spain, Italy, The Netherlands, Germany and France.
“Execution could have been better because I tried to sell these phones through carriers as retail shops”.
This week the company announced its high-end Android handset is getting a price cut, fueling further speculation that the Priv isn’t selling as well as the company hoped it would.
However, the Priv would have been an even bigger flop for BlackBerry if it launched with BlackBerry 10 on-board instead of Android. The screen itself is going to be a 5.4 inch one and will radiate a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels.
“PRIV won the final round of Smartphone Madness, capturing 69% of the vote”, the report said.
