BlackBerry promises it won’t ditch the physical keyboard
Pini said the company will nonetheless continue to support the Classic and other BlackBerry 10 OS devices with continuing software updates, including the release of version 10.3.3 next month and a second update next year. Kim Kardashian has a stockpile of them because of the keyboard. It brought back the company’s iconic QWERTY keyboard, and had a renewed focus on business and productivity features. And yet, Blackberry struggles.

When BlackBerry’s Chief Operating Officer and General Manager for Devices, Ralph Pini announced the end of the Classic, it remained unclear as to whether the entire design concept would be canned, or just the phone itself.
Fortunately, there’s no need to worry. Canadian mobile maker BlackBerry has parted ways with its most successful device of its times – BlackBerry Classic, reports IANS.
The BlackBerry Classic is being discontinued. You can get a physical keyboard with its BlackBerry Priv handset, which runs Android, looks at first glance like an ordinary touchscreen smartphone, but in fact has a physical slider keyboard hidden away.
It comes as the company recently announced quarterly losses of £520m.
It was the device that launched a thousand carpal tunnel injuries among bankers, lawyers, and executives, but today, the classic BlackBerry smartphone is no more. “For BlackBerry, and more importantly for our customers, the hardest part in letting go is accepting that change makes way for new and better experiences”, said BlackBerry in a blog post.
The US Senate last week chose to discontinue issuing BlackBerry smartphones as their official devices. We are ready for this change so we can give our customers something better.

“For now, if the Classic is still your device of choice, please check with your carriers for device availability or purchase Classic unlocked online”, he suggested.
